„As an artist, my images are drawn from film explorations (super8, 16mm, 35mm) as well as photography and video. The result is often influenced by diverse techniques of animation. I continue to refine my techniques in filmmaking and animation as I explore new ways to tell stories, experimenting with the narrative.“
Madi Piller
ASIFA AUSTRIA invited the Canada-based artist and filmmaker Madi Piller as an artist in residence in the Museumsquartier Vienna for April and May 2015. Born in Peru Madi looks back on a large number of film-, animation- and other artistic works. Her special interest in analog film and the specific quality of this material will hopefully be satisfied by using ASIFA AUSTRIA’s Krass animation stand. But Madi is also familiar with most modern media features: One of her latest projects is made for Oculus Rift glasses.
Madi Piller is an excellent networker who likes to engage in group projects like TAIS - Toronto Animated Image Society. She is going to exhibit an installation called Film on FILM in the Asifakeil. On April 29 2015 she is going to give an overview of her artistic work and discuss and dissect the rationale and techniques behind her films (Raum D/quartier21, 6.30 pm).
